Pronunciation

The pronunciation of these words is a bit different from the standard English word when it comes to vowels. The sound of the vowels and their combinations are below.

AA – ā

II – ī 

Ex: Sumbanwe is read sūm-bŏn-wĕ.

Ex: Shigana is read shē-gŏ-nŏ.

Ex: Vosoazanta is read Vō-sō-ŏ-zŏn-tŏ.

Language Rules

Sentence Structure: Ensali sentences are structured in a Subject-Verb-Predicate format.

Example: Sonshi (character - subject) lelonaen (possesses - verb) spet sum. (strong spirit - predicate).

Pluralization: -k or -ik (add k to the end of the word to pluralize the noun. If the noun ends in k, add -ik to noun.)

Verbs tenses: past (-ep); present (-en); future (-et);

State-of-being verbs: am, is, are (en); was, were (ep); will be (et);

Titles: Ensali put formal titles after the name. There are several titles depending on status.

Language Expansion

  • Adjectives are created from nouns by adding the suffix -de.

  • Verbs are created from nouns by adding the suffix -si. 

  • Adverbs are created from adjectives by adding the suffix -ke.

  • Nouns are created from adjectives by adding the suffix -to.
